Various Artists - Dawn Of The Dead
The wait is over my horrid musical fiends...this is the great lost incidental music from Romero's classic movie Dawn Of The Dead. Never released before, this is not the Goblin score from the same film but all the great lost incidental library. This brings together all the superb musical madness, the dark electronics and even includes a killer Country blues oddity by "The Pretty Things". Worth having alone just for "The Gonk", a wacked-out piece of clockwork big band music (that you will hum forever), this album is a unique and very different soundtrack recording because it blends so many genres together almost too perfectly. Country, ragtime, electronics, dramatic oddness, you name it, and it all plays through like a humerous nightmare. These original cues were found for the film by none other than Dario Argento. It's this music that makes the film even darker, weirder and more humorous. It also works as a great album in its own right. There are 14 tracks in all, one track of which is the mall montage which alone is four tracks together. So that's about 18 tracks in all. Confused? Just buy the album. (If you buy this, you also must buy Psychomania...well, at least think about it...)
