Hello, I hope you are well.

I now have news of the lastest Trunk record. And it's a bit of a strange one. There is full info and images here, but to be brief it's all music made by the great British artist Jeff Keen. Art seemed to explode from Jeff, he created art pretty much every day of his life, made films, collages, prints, sketches, you name it. I was planning on issuing the soundtracks from his films (still an onging project) but while I was in talks with his daughter, she showed me a set of cassettes she had discovered in Jeff's studio. On them was music and "Noise Art" made by the great man in the 80s and possibly early 90s. This new release is music from those very cassettes. It has never been released and is unlike like anything you may have heard before, created using field recordings from the local arcade, the radio, an Atari, a WASP synth, a ZX Spectrum and a basic effects unit. There is an exciting full page review of the music in this month's Wire magazine.

For such an incredible art-based release I have gone a bit creative: there are just 500 vinyl records (and it will not be repressed). These are divided up into 100 unit blocks, with each 100 being pressed getting a new colour splattered in, and also having a different screen-printed image in a different colour on the sleeve. So that's five completely different sleeves, and 5 different colourways on the wax too. Each LP comes with an essay by David Toop on a large colour insert, and there is a further one of five different small inserts included that are copies of musical notes by Jeff found in his studio.

The vinyl colours are as follows:
The first 100 are on clear vinyl (with black sleeve)
The second 100 are on clear vinyl plus bright red (with red sleeve)
The third 100 are on clear vinyl plus bright red and bright yellow (with yellow sleeve)
The fourth 100 are on clear vinyl plus bright red, bright yellow and bright blue (with blue sleeve)
The fifth 100 are clear vinyl plus bright red, bright yellow, bright blue and silver (with silver sleeve)

The album is also on CD, which comes with a massive 20 page booklet with two essays and some rare Keen imagery. Nice.

The albums are all being hand assembled by me over the weekend and will be ready to ship to the the Trunk mailing list next week. They will not be released to the shops for another two weeks at least. Also, the albums will be sold on a first come first serve basis and sold in order, so once the first 100 clear vinyl pressings have gone I move to the next colour and so on. The albums, because of the hand made nature and complexity of the release are £20 each, but this does include recorded delivery to you in the UK in a brand new mailer with two stiffeners. If you would like one of these new LPs here's what you can do:

1) get yourself £20 for an LP, or £10 for a CD. Then get yourself a piece of paper.

2) on the piece of paper please write your name, your address and what you want. eg "I'd like an LP please"

3) On the rest of the piece of paper please also draw a square with something really bonkers inside it. This can be anything, as good or as bad as you'd like it to be. It just has to be a vague attempt at art.

4) Wrap the money in the paper, put it in an envelope and send it here:

If you are abroad please email me and we'll sort something alternative out. And if you happen to be one of those collectors (and I know you're out there) who actually wants all five variations of the LP then please also email me and we'll make sure you get want you wish.

Thanks for listening as always
