Hello, I hope all is groovy.
Things are sort of groovy here but very frustrating too as I have just been told that the expected Trunk vinyl album that was sent off for manufacture in April (yes, APRIL) is still not ready. The pressing plant has been telling everyone involved "it's on its way" and test pressings were expected weeks ago. It transpires that the pressing plant took on way, way too much work especially over the Record Store Day period and has now come unstuck. And instead of telling everyone it cannot manage the work, has just tried to bluff its way out of the situation. So I'm aftraid there is still a delay, maybe two weeks I'm told, but to be honest who knows. I now have a backlog of vinyl waiting to be sent off, but I'm sure it will all come out in the end.
Anyway, I have remained busy and as a result there is a new tee shirt in town. I found a 1943 typesetting sample book at an antiques market, and inside was a superb image of an old lace-up association football, which I have put on a white tee shirt. So it's a very old football on a brand new tee shirt. I have a soft spot for old lace up footballs and it looks pretty good actually. It has the printing deatisl left on the design too. You can see it here.
And I have the #50pFriday offer for today which is the classic 1st Panorama De Musique Concrete album, to my knowledge it was the first ever sampler of this progressive French sound issued way back in 1957. It's Pierre Henry. Pierre Schaeffer and Phillipe Arthuys exploring the possibilities of manipulated and edited tape and producing some of the most groundbreaking sounds of the post war period. Well of any period actually. It still sounds incredible and quite insane today. There is a link here.
I'm now off to Norway to give a talk about electronic music in 1960s Britain. Let me know if you want anything brought back.
Thanks for listening as always
Jonny
