Good morning. First of all thanks to those lovely people who sent an email saying happy birthday to me this week. I got some odd pictures too. Marvellous.
Secondly, today's #50pFriday album is the deceptive "How I Play Jazz Piano" by John Mehegan, a self-taught pianist who learned how to play piano watching and copying a player piano. It's not like a jazz album at all, more like a clever classical one. I find it most relaxing and really excellent in times of stress - in fact if my children are going really crazy at home I hit them both with the sleeve then put the record on and calm is restored. There is a link right here. Remember, if you click the small LP sleeve pictures the page opens up to reveal the MP3 or WAV options.
All four March 50p albums are on the same page, so it gives you a chance to catch up on any you missed this month.
Also, a quick update on the Trunk sunglasses drama mentioned last week; I managed to find some weirdy two-tone 60s NHS frames and got them reglassed with prescription black lenses. The end result is both effective and strange - they look like I've stolen them from a cool panda bear.
And finally, I believe I am on the Freakier Zone on 6Music playing odd Beatnik records tomorrow at midnight. And no, I'm not now going to sigh off with a super cool beatnik phrase.
Thanks for listening
Jonny
