Hello, I hope all is groovy.

First up, today's 50p Friday album, it's a cracker by Cannonball Adderley that's perfect for the Brazilian world cup thing going on at the moment. This was a live session back in 1962 and includes the stunning 11 minute track "Jive Samba", which could well have you grooving about in front of the football, or in your garden or somewhere like that. Anyway, great record, bargain price. There is a link here.

Second up something completely different. As a collector of records I've found that shelving and storage is often a problem - in fact it's an ongoing one, especially for 7" singles. The nearly ideal 7" storage boxes are the classic old 1950s and 1960s bottle crates made by Schweppes. But these are hard to come by, are often ragged when you find them, and are now expensive because record collectors want them and also people put cool plants and vegetables in them in that modern shabby / hip / chic way. So, I got to thinking with Ed who I make the Original Peter bags with. Then I did some more thinking and spoke to a good chum of mine who used to run a record shop but now like building stuff out of wood, and he has made me some record crates to try and sell. They are beautifully handmade, they are constructed out of 1/2 inch birch ply, have carefully made and rounded housing joints for the bottom and all corners, they have three coats of protective varnishing and are practically bomb proof. They have two handles - one at each end - like the old Schweppes crates, but one crucial difference, these are taller, so you can stack them. We have no idea what to sell these beautiful handmade crates for, but our joiner is well up for the idea of selling them and taking orders for more if enough people are interested at the right price. So, I'm asking collectors on the Trunk mailing list what they would genuinely pay for such superb things (that are made so well they will probably outlast you), and would you be up for having some made to order for yourself? I have supplied some small pics on this link and to check capacity filled one crate last night with about 180 single and eps, some double sleeved, some in single sleeves, some in card protectors, there's even a box set of birdsong in there too, and they all fit very confortably. The external dimensions are as follows:

Width: 22cm (approx 8 3/4 inches)

Height: 21.5cm (approx 8 1/ inches)

Length: 49cm (19 1/4 inches)

So, let me know if you are interested - make us an offer. I have two of these babies to sell. And do bear in mind that these are so much more superior to the white and black "Trissa" ones that Ikea used to make. If this goes well I might be making them part of the Original Peter brand, to go along with the fine record bags that record people are already enjoying.

Thanks for listening
