Hello, I hope you are well. The good news is the long awaited (since 1966 for some) Moogies Bloogies 7" record by Delia Derbyshire and Anthony Newley is here. I have the limited clear vinyl ones until they run out. The record is not being released until 6th October but you can now order it from ye olde Trunk shoppe and it will posted to you the day it comes out. The link is here. It is also much cheaper here than it will be everywhere else.
Also the latest 50p Friday album is now up, and it's one of the most amazing vocal LPs ever made. Originally the soundtrack to an Italian TV show, this is Helen Merrill singing jazz standards like no one else can. An original would be the price of a small Fiat. It can be had right here.
Also, I found seven copies of the Daphne Oram / Tom Dissevelt Trunk ten inch yesterday in a box in Dagenham. They are all sealed. If you missed it, now is your second chance. Two great little records for the price of one...I have just put them up in Ye Olde Shoppe.
If you have time this weekend, have a watch of this classic movie - Smashing Time. You might think it's a cheesy swingin' London film but is something far more subtle, twisted and observant. Penned by George Melly whose thoughts and writings on pop music and pop art of the time were nothing short of genius, it also features a most excellent sequence with Bruce Lacey and his killer robots.
The reason this email is slightly earlier than normal is because I'm now running for a train as I am headed to the Wire's Off The Page Festival in Bristol. I shall be playing music for three days. I'm sure when I arrive in Bristol and unpack I'll realise my underwear to days away ratio will be wrong once again.
Thanks for listening as always
Jonny Trunk
