Hello. I don't normally send out a mailing on a Wednesday, but I have some news. Last night I took delivery of the new and unexpected Trunk LP. This is JBH055LP, and is the album Tam...Tam...Tam...! Yes, I'd not heard of it either until August this year, which is why the LP is quite unexpected. Originally it was released in 1958 (in Brazil), and is a recording made relating to a musical extravaganza called "Braziliana" that toured the world in the 1950s. The music is by José Prates, and is a potent mix of hypnotic tribal chants, rhythms and extraordinary melodies - it sounds like no other album I can think of.
The reason I've issued it was because I read about it here, when Gilles Peterson was desperate for someone to issue it. So I did. Once I'd heard it I realised why Gilles was so desperated for a copy. It really is an unique and prescient beast, and not only features the origins of Mas-Que-Nada but really is the foundation of the Brazilian sound that was to come in the next decade. The more you listen to Tam...Tam...Tam...! the more of the future you hear.
The LP came in yesterday and the orders I have already exceed the number I have in stock, but I guess that's what happens when Gilles Peterson gets incredibly excited about the LP. I met him this morning to give him his copy and it's great to see someone who has bought records for most of his life still getting incredible excited and animated about even more records. More info has just gone up on the Trunk site so you can read about the LP here.
The LP is not in Ye Olde Trunk shoppe yet. So if you want a copy please follow the simple instructions below. Please note that my prices have finally had to go up as the cost of the LP plus postage plus nice new mailers and that have now got too much. Anyway...the LP plus postage is £15. The CD on its own is £5.
1) First decide what you would like.
2) Find yourself the correct note(s) - £5, £10. £20 etc.
3) Find yourself a piece of paper, upon which you must write i) your name, ii) your address, and iii) what format(s) you would like.
4) At the bottom of the paper draw something to do with Brazil or Brazilians. And yes, I know what you are thinking. Your drawing could be as good or as bad as you like. A simple football will suffice.
5) Finally wrap your money up in the paper, put it in an envelope and send it here:

Thanks for listening
