Hello, I hope all is groovy. Things are quite groovy here. There have been many emails about Galactic Nightmare. This is indeed on its way, and should be here in two weeks. I can't wait. i will have confirmed dates by next week I hope.
For today I thought that Movin' And Groovin' would be a good album for 50p. It was one of a series of Stereo Action LPs, conceived to take full advantage of modern stereo systems, with crazy panning and stuff like that. The musically charismatic Three Suns (read about them here) took full advantage of this opportunity and produced an album of calm humorous anarchy - if there is such a thing, with kooky percussion, plugged in keyboards, jews harps, twangy larks, pots, pans, all sorts. And their version of "Caravan" is one of the best ever I reckon. Annoyingly I should have put up this album last week as there is a version of "April Showers" on the album too. But not that version of "April Showers", another one. Actually I had a shower this moring and now my hair has gone all puffed up. Oh, and as it's the anniversary of VE Day, I've put the Classic Aircraft Sounds album back up, as it's got Lancaster bombers and nightingales and that. Both albums can be found here. It's all I could think of for this historic occasion.
And now, once I have flattened out my hair I will be getting on a train to Lewes. I have been there once before, when it was raining.
Finally, it was Ann-Margret's birthday this week. I love Ann-Margret. Here is the totally wild painting sequence from The Swinger - 1966. Alternatively you can watch her in this high camp post disco madness from 1981. Just wait for the sax bit.
Thanks for listening
Jonny
