Hello, I hope all is groovy.
Thanks to everyone who came for a chat at the Trunk stall at last week's Indy Record Fayre, good to meet you all. And thanks for buying records, sweatshirts, tee shirts, but sadly no one wanted my spare copy of the infamous Paula Yates book Rock Stars In Their Underpants.
Earlier this week I was contacted by a producer confirming that a radio show I was interviewed for is shortly playing out on Radio 4. The show is an one of those Archive Hour ones, goes out tomorrow July 18th at 8pm, and it can be caught almost immediately afterwards and forever onwards here. The show is about "Learn How To / Teach Yourself" records, and one of the featured LPs is How To Yodel. It's one of my favourite, most mad and is quite impossible and is appropriately available here today for 50p.
Obviously yodelling is not everyone's idea of a good #50pFriday album, so I have also put up the incredible America Speaks Africa Answers by Guy Warren and Red Saunders. It's a captivating jazz trip into African jazz sounds, and predicts all sorts of musical fusions to come. I even spy a bit of hip hop too in there. It's an ace LP. It can be found here. Please remember that if you click on the album image the option of MP3 or WAV appears.
This week, to my surprise and delight, I found out that Galactic Nightmare is "Reissue Of The Month" in Record Collector Magazine (get in there!). To celebrate such a momentous review I have had a limited number (just 15) of Galactic Nightmare Tee shirts made. They feature Alan Jefferson's GN logo in pink on black tees. There is actually only 14 now as Stewart Lee has just been given one. They can be found here. There are also a handful of vinyl copies in ye olde shop. Six I think. And they are here.
I'm not off to do anything now apart from work. Although I have been reminded that my oldest chum has a birthday today so I have an excuse to go out and find a suitable inexpensive gift. Maybe a Trunk tee shirt will do. Have a super weekend...
Thanks for listening
Jonny
