Hello, I hope all is groovy.
It's all fine here, still moving boxes of LPs and singles all about the place and this week I got slightly annoyed about the weather. There was more rain that I was hoping for. Anyway, to cheer myself up I turned to the hoard of exotics here, one of which is the classic and vastly underrated Exotica Suite by Si Zentner and Martin Denny. In short, it's a progressive clash of the tiki titans, and together they produced a louder, more swinging exotic sound than you may be used to, especially when the summer weather has left. But in short, some very groovy numbers, some very groovy sounds, and all for 50p. The beautiful album can be found here in both MP3 and WAV.
Also, I managed to license some very good music this week, by the amazing Ernest Berk. He was a ballet dancer, teacher and modern creative thinker who turned to avant-garde composing for his own ballets. All I can say is wow. And then wow again. I came across him a few years ago and it's taken me years to track down some music and actually license it. I reckon I can get the first lot out early next year. To give you a flavour of what lies ahead here is one of his scores, made for David Gladwell's 1964 "An Unitled Film" for the BFI. Hold tight. I suggest you do not look if you are a vegetarian. And here he is dancing in the nude at the age of 80 something in 1993. Again, do not look if you are a vegetarian.
I'm now off to London Bridge to pre record tomorrow's OST Show (also in the nude), which is going to be all about John Cameron and his library music. And there is a shed load of that. Literally.
Thanks for listening.
