Hello, I hope all is groovy. All is well here, in fact today is my birthday. But before you get excited for me there will be little in the way of celebrations: I have to pick the kids up at 1:45 as that's the end of school and term today. I then have to put up with their moaning about inapproprate or inadequate snack provisions and play date opportunities until I can go out at about 8pm when things may well improve.

As it's Good Friday tomorrow I thought I'd do the 50p Friday thing today and get it all done before the hols and easter egg hunts begin. This weekend also marks the time when Dudley Moore left us (14 years ago this Sunday) so I thought we could all enjoy his first ever jazz LP, the one when he played his theme from Beyond The Fringe and all sorts of other pop jazz finery. The lovely, charismastic and dare I say unmistakeable sounds of Dud and his trio can be found here

During this short week all sorts of odd things happened. We bought and lost a rat. And I had a good conversation with Tommy Stupid about skaters. I quite like watching skaters and observing their lively world from time to time (probably because I never learned to skate myself), but I'd never come across Richie Jackson until this week. Basically he looks kinda like a Hawkwind era Lemmy on a skateboard and he does all these odd, dare I say radical (to use a skating term) things that I've never seen any one else do on or with a board before. Here he is. And wow.

I am now heading to Spitalfields "antique" market in search of a birthday bargain for myself, but will more than likely find something more suitable for my lovely wife.

Happy easters

Jonny
