Hello, I hope all is groovy. I am slightly hungover, as a result of rather over indulging on Wednesday. Yes, Wednesday. As a result I have managed to sort out a #50pFriday album but have not got around to some basic online housekeeping like getting all the other #50pFriday albums from the last month out of the way (again). Never mind.

Today I decided some Bernard Herrman might be good; I heard Taxi Driver yesterday morning on the news, some people have just repressed The Twisted Nerve and this amazing #50pFriday album is up there with his best. Written in 1951 for what would become one of the greatest sci-fi films of all time, this is The Day The Earth Stood Still, a score of lush, adventurous orchestrations and daring use of the futuristic Theramin. It's here, it's 50p and I've still got a hangover.

Yesterday I was emailed a musical question (I actually get emailed loads of musical questions), and this one just asked "do you know who did the music to Curious Alice". I did some investigation and the answer is "no". Curious Alice was a short made for the USA National Institute Of Mental Health - and it is indeed a bit mental. I think the music might be by someone like Mort Garson. Anyway, the film can be seen here - worth a look.

Also this week I finally managed to get the 20,000 Leagues limited edition Liam Sparkes squid tee shirts and sweatshirts made. They all feature the superb tattoo based squid he drew for the 20,000 Leagues album and the garments either have the squid on the front, or wiggling down the arms. They a really are quite superb (even if I say so myself) and can be seen right here. There is also a short run of The Boss Music tees too - this is a library sleeve image, the one with the 18th Century Man and his motorbike. If that's got you revved up you can look at them all here. And of course tee shirt weather is just around the corner.

Tomorrow I am off to Stewart Lee's ATP, to play music and do a talk with Wire magazine and stuff. And I now have to go to Rough Trade East. I have to interview Brix Smith. Hopefully she will eat me alive.

Thanks for listening

Jonny
