hello, I hope all is groovy. It's all good here. I have called this mailing 50p Back, but that doesn't mean I want my 50p back. It just means after a two week break the #50pFriday larks are back.
Not only did I manage to got to Cornwall for my holiday, I also managed to drag the family to a Greek Island, where during one afternoon I attempted to teach my six year old the game of chess. Because he asked me to teach him. What a bloody disaster. Especially when it came to knight moves. So we went back to Uno. This leads me nicely to the #50pFriday album, this week by Charles Mingus. Called Chazz (where chess meets jazz) it was recorded live at the Cafe Bohemia and features first recordings of his future classics - it also proves his influences were wide ranging, there's even Rachmaninoff in there. The 50p album can be found here, as can loads of others I can't be bothered to move.
While I was away I had no email contact, which was great. And when I came back I had some interesting mail to look at. Here's a good example.
Thanks to everyone who bought the clear vinyl versions of Circle Of Light ("Curated and released by the fabulous Jonny Trunk this is quite simply one of the best records I have ever heard" - Chris Watson). There are a handful of black ones left - I have decided that the black one in now also limited (see the all new changed copy) so there will not be a repress of the black one. The last few I have are here. And as I sadly predicted, clear vinyl ones already sell for £50 plus. Madness. There may well be a screening of the film shortly, I shall keep you informed.
Also pretty mad is the terrier I am currently looking after for a neighbour. We have her for two weeks. She likes walking and running after balls and frisbees and barking. Sadly she craps in the front room every day, so I have to clean all that up before I can start watching the Olympics.
Thanks for listening
Jonny
PS can the groovy guy with the list of all 50p Friday albums please email it to me again. The dog has deleted it. Thanks.
