hello, I hope all is groovy. It's all good here. Well it was alright until I got sent this short film about a levitating turntable.
I've had a very busy week and bought loads jazz funk. I've also been wearing casual clothing, so I seem to be going back to the early 1980s. But today's #50pFriday offering is much earlier, and is (I believe) the first recording released by Barry Gray for a Gerry Anderson animation series called Four Feather Falls. This is a rare record, and a few years ago one went for about £250, which was bonkers, but I also think that might have been a stereo copy. Anyway, it's a charming musical thing as you might expect from a sweet little supermarionation show about the Wild West (you can watch an episode here). The train song is my fave and should be played every morning to anyone commuting to London on South West trains. Four Feather Falls can be found here.
Next week is looking pretty bonkers: Thursday evening I am at Hatchards in Piccadilly with an Elizabethan Portable turntable and 20,000 Leagues, and on Saturday there is the Independent Label Market where I have a Trunk / Original Peter stall. There will be a 20% discount on all bags, I have a stash of second hand LPs to sell and may well have a new Trunk 7" but that really depends on the pressing plant.
Tomorrow on the OST Show on Resonance FM I have Simon Matthews who has just written a book called Psychedelic Celluloid, all about wacky British cinema of the 60s and 70s. I mean have you heard of West 11?
I am now of the Spitalfields Record Fayre. I am going in disguise as a lady. There needs to be more women there.
Thanks for listening
Jonny
