hello, morning, I hope all is groovy. It's bloody freezing here.
Firstly, thanks to all you folks who came to the Indy Record Label Fayre at the weekend. Most excellent fun. Secondly, it's December and I am woefully unprepared for the next few weeks. I have managed to find two presents so far - one for my younger sister and one for me. So it's not going too well. Also, I am hanging about waiting for Christmas Trunk things to arrive, a 7", a CD box set, some prints, some tees, the Xmas mix, some other things, so hopefully more of that next week.
Last night I was thinking about Christmas music for #50pFriday and then remembered the classic Gregorian LP that I started listening to obsessively this year. I was researching the T.E. Lawrence (he of Arabia) record collection. He had a sizeable collection in the 1920s which I first spotted at Clouds Hill where Lawrence also had a listening room and a MASSIVE E.M. Ginn gramophone. So I started compiling collections of his shellac discs, and this one stuck out a bit. This was the earliest vinyl recording I could find of the original 1920s shellac disk and it sounds completely timeless. It also sounds quite appropriate now as the nights are long and we hurtle into December. The legendary Gregorian recording by the Monks of St Pierre De Solesmes can be found here for 50p.
If you want to know more about the T.E. Lawrence record collection, drop me an email.
In other news, Tiswas, Basil Brush and Vision On are all under threat.
I now have to be in the West End, in a jumper.
Thanks for listening.
