Hello, I hope all is groovy. It's all groovy here, although it is now the school holidays so I am covered in children. Naughty children.
This put me in mind of Cautionary Tales, which I had recently uploaded digitally, a series of his poems about really naughty children getting eaten by lions etc. But I had no idea that one of these tales (Matilda) was a major influence on Syd Barret and that Pinky Floyd lot. Basically I'd found this super-rare Hilaire Belloc record - I always buy funny spoken word when I come across it, especially if it nearly has the name of a Indiana Jones villain in the title - and as I'd never come across this particular one before I started looking into it a bit. I then thought that as I'd got loads of spoken word LPs I could have a month of spoken word 50p stuff, so we're beginning with this. It may well get more peculiar as April goes on. But Hilaire Belloc is a good start and he can be found here. Apparently he was a good sailor which explains the front cover. .
In other news I was with a dad from school yesterday and he mentioned a new Hackney Film Festival thing. If you have made a short film that is relevent, do let them know.
It is school holiday for at least another week, maybe two depending on which part of the country / world you might be in, but this always reminds me of bizarre holiday broadcasting for kids. This is all about maths and stars the bloke from 1) Ragtime and 2) Blood On Satan's Claw.
I'm now off the to the record fayre (without my kids) and then to the National Portrait Gallery to see the Howard Hodgkin and to check if anyone has painted a picture of me yet.
Thanks for listening
Jonny
