hello, I hope all is groovy. Things are better here, having had various objects stuck down my throat this week, I now have the all clear.
Last night I went to the ballroom dancing championship at The Royal Albert Hall. I was under dressed. But this has absolutely nothing to do with today's 50p Friday album. No, today's 50p Friday album is based on the fact that Record Collector mag has run a short article about Graham Bond. I have many Graham Bond LPs, but my faves are the two he did in the USA when they spelt his name wrong, and the one he did with Don Rendell called Roarin'. It's Roarin' we have today, which includes the most awesome Bond written opener, "Bring Back The Burch". This was a pretty rare LP, and is when Bond was into jazz and before he discovered R&B and devil worship. The 50p Roarin' album can be found here.
Here is Graham in action in the terrifyingly poor Gonks Go Beat (I may have posted this before). And here he is again a few years / few pounds later on with Ginger Baker's Airforce, playing sax and with his wife on vocals (Diane Stewart - she's wearing the cosmic star).
For something a little more down to earth here is a great film I was sent this week by Eamonn. It's all about kids things, but features some AMAZING footage of Postgate And Firmin making The Clangers at about 26 minutes in. Just superb and I'd never seen it before. Thanks Eamonn.
I'm now off to meet my sisters. We are working on a dance routine.
Thanks for listening
Jonny
