Hello, I hope all is groovy. It was all groovy here until my family all got some odd flu-based virus and have had to take most of the week off. Yes, my wife has been off all week, my youngest off from school - it got me too. But the dog has managed to dodge it all.
This has meant I have spent some time this week doing bugger all apart from lying down, but I have managed to watch the recent Shirley Collins documentary, sent to me by a member of this mailing list. This has led me to put some Shirley back on the 50p Friday offerings, along with a rarely seen / heard album called Folk Song Today, which from 1957 contains her first recorded performance. I might be wrong here but I can find no earlier recording. Anyway, this, that and loads of super others can be found here.
In other news I was sent a Chinese version of a classic Morricone tune yesterday. I also found out last night - when I went to a farewell party for someone going to Australia for the next two years - that wombat poop is square.
Now I'm wrapping up warm and heading for Spitalfields. The idea is to walk around the 40 or so record stalls, get really very cold and miserable and buy sod all apart from coffee.
Thanks for listening
Jonny
Oh, one final thing, it's the annual Resonance FM fundraiser. They have to raise £100K to move the studio. Here is a list of auction goodies, including an Original Oeter limited editon record bag and records.
