hello, I hope all is groovy. It's pretty groovy here, although I have drunk rather a lot this week and only just started to get going - another two nights out and one lunch to go! .
So, thanks to everyone who came to the Lever Gallery evening on Thursday. A good turnout would be an understatement. A most pleasant evening, in amongst some mighty fine and original 1960s paintings.
Today's 50p Friday offering is nothing to do with the 1960s but has something slightly to do with paintings: it is the first in a series of early Arnhem Land recordings. So, this is authentic, hypnotic world music with didgeridoo, chanting and ceremonial clicky noises performed by indiginous Austalians of the Northern territories. And yes, they are covered in paint on the front and they are also known for their extraordinary dream art. Arnhem Land Volume 1 can be found here, along with more 50p joy joy joy.
And now here is a film also involving some painting - it's A Portrait Of Mr Pink. This is a short and utterly charming film about a very charming man. So thank you Miles from Wonderfulsound for pointing me in Mr Pink's direction.
I'm now off to meet my sisters who are taking me to have some food as it's my birthday tomorrow. I am expecting a power shower of gifts and cards and as usual will count myself very lucky if a little trickle comes my way. Here's hoping for some more socks.
Thanks for listening as always.
