hello, I hope all is groovy. It's pretty groovy here if you don't count my moody 8 year old second child.

So, thanks to all - and there were lots of you - who kindly wrote in about fun things to do in Lesbos / Lisbon. As a result I had a most entertaining time in a really lovely city, and managed to see my 12 year old get told off in a record shop for fiddling with the decks. I even went past Eurovision Village! Brilliant. I really want to go again, possibly without my children. Unusually I've had people email me to get the suggestions I was sent, so have also passed them on.

Today's 50p Friday album is nothing to do with Portugal but has a touch of the exotic - we have the debut album by big band exeprimentalist Chico Arnez. His first album was helped along by Joe Meek, and has some most entertaining and retrospectively ridiculous moments, and includes the classic Eastern trip, "Yashmak". I've also dropped in a couple of other interesting bits and still not cleared any of the 50p Friday offers for the whole year so far. All 50p larks can be found here

As for a video link, the last few weeks have seen many a traditional festival take place here in the UK. Last weekend it was the Green Man larks in Hastings. Today you can see ye olde festivities from Padstow, Cornwall from the 1950s - a really great lttle film.

I now have to go and rescue my wife's bicycle, currently tethered in Haggerston, before it ends up swimming in the canal.

Thanks for listening.
