Hell, I hope all is groovy. It's pretty groovy here but I do have post holiday blues and also the words “fatal error” kept popping up this morning at 7am everytime I tried to put together this mailing. All sorted now.
So, today’s 50p Friday is a real treat from the pen and marvellous musical mind of the great Ronald Binge. He famously wrote “Sailing By” but also was the string arranger for Mantovani which is why I reckon Mantovani sold so many bloomin' records. Apparently it was all about Binge and his "double stringing" methods. Anway, the very fine 50p offering is Binge on his own, a very rare EP indeed that includes his legendary cue “The Watermill” which I believe was used by the BBC years ago as the theme to The Secret Garden from 1976 or somewhere about then. The 50p Binge can be found here.
While I was actually looking to check about The Secret Garden on YouTube, most of the clips had been taken down by the BBC but I did find this odd thing.
I managed to read a few books on holiday, one of which was I’m With The Band, the groupie biog written Pamela Des Barres. In it she mentions swooning as Led Zep wearing Granny Takes A Trip clothing hit LA, and here is a groovy 8 minutes all about such things (which I might have posted before but I care not).
In other news, my dog now smells of chemical roses as Granny washed his grubby cushion and used some odd floral fabric conditioner.
Thanks for listening as always
Jonny
