hello, I hope all is groovy. It's pretty groovy here but the shower still leaks and is causing mild havoc most mornings.

Annoyingly I have no Previn to offer as a 50p this week - he even popped up twice in the N16 Pop Quiz on Wednesday. Instead I have the furthest you could possibly get from Andre Previn - American Country Music. This is possibly a first for the 50p Friday offerings (apart for the rural American Frog LP and the Seegers Christmas album), country music rarely enters my world, but this is a fine and educational release which includes hugely influential artists of the genre and originals of songs that were greatly covered, including the classic 50s hit "It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels". It's like a classic British folk LP, but American. Anyway, Country Faves is here for just 50p.

From the 1950s country music of the USA to the sights of 1960s London, here is a really groovy swinging London thing I was sent this week - it includes super cars, super girls, super guys and even Vidal Sassoon.

Also, some dates for that crammed diary of yours: 31st March Martin Green and myself are playing 5 hours of library music (1pm to 6pm - free!) at the all new Spiritland on The South Bank. And yes, I know it's Mother's Day. Also, DJ Food and I will be at Audio Gold on RSD in April, I will be playing out some of the Basil Kirchin reel to reels on their hip Hi-Fi equipment, DJ Food will be playing flexi discs. It will be fun for sure.

I'm now off for more fun - driving to Norfolk very early with my sisters to see our uncle who has Altzeimer's. He's a very charming man, with a most extraordinary memory most of the time. On our last visit he told us how he'd helped our grandfather make the concrete landing strips at Coltishall aerodrome just after the war. And then he told us he'd spent the week in the Highlands when we knew for a fact he'd just been walking around in the garden.

Thanks for listening

Jonny
