Hello, I hope all is groovy, it's pretty groovy here. Apart from all the wind. And I don't mean my wind.
Today, if you are in the UK, is Red Nose Day. There seems to be a lot of charity action this week, so all money from the 50p Friday release will be given to Comic Relief and Stand Up To Cancer. Having said that you might not even be interested in today's 50p album, which is Chazz, Charlie Mingus at his very best from the mid 1950s. Super cool and super modern. It can be found here.
On the front cover of Chazz Mingus is playing chess. This started me on a mini chess thing yesterday evening and I wound up watching an episode of the memorable BBC chess show, The Mastergame. It's worth a peak for a few reasons.
Also, last week, the link to the groovy hipster 1960s thing wasn't working, So here it is again.
I'm now off to Spitalfields market, for the record fayre. I was there yesterday (at the antiques fayre) where I came across the original Max Bygraves This Is Your Life Book. Apparently it had been found in a skip, thrown out by his family which is a strange and sad metaphor for the life of a 1950s / 1960s superstar I suppose.
Thanks for listening
Jonny
