Morning, I hope all is groovy. It's pretty groovy here if I ignore te fact that the dog has just chewed one of my rare Hosoi "rising sun" Van boots. And the shower is still not right. BUT there was a lesser spotted woodpecker in my garden this morning so all is well.

Anyway, today for the 50p Friday album we have actress and singer and probably loads of other things person Diahann Carroll (who was even in Dynasty!). Well she was in the Porgy And Bess film, shot to fame and recorded the complete P&B with the fab Andre Previn Trio (RIP). And very cool it is too. Of course it features "Summertime" and yesterday here in London it hit about 17 degrees which isn't quite Summer but people were in shorts. The super talented Diahann and Andre can be found here along with nearly hundreds of others.

As I'm sure you are aware, this coming Sunday is Mother's Day. My mother is not coming to Spiritland at The Royal Festival Hall where Martin Green and myself will be playing 5 hours of lovely library music from 1pm onwards. No, she will be at home listening to talk radio and on the sniff for some pensioner gossip in her local community.

My mother is also not interested in anything like this which was sent to me this week with a load of other rather odd things. It's about kids who write a song for their teacher's birthday in 1980.

Normally I'd now be off to the Spitalfields Record Fayre, but i) I have bought loads of LPs this week including this one and ii) today I am travelling South to meet a composer about some really interesting music he made for a film about a woman alone in a room for 14 minutes. It's more interesting and rude than I've made it sound.

More news about books, Easter and so much more next week.

Thanks for listening

Jonny
