hello, I hope all is groovy. All is pretty groovy here as someone is coming to look at the non-functioning shower on Monday. And someone else is coming to look at my ongoing "bamboo problem" later today.
And for your listening pleasure today I have a killer 50p Friday, two of my favourite music people together on strange and rarely seen EP. Nelson Riddle And George Gershwin. Yes, Riddle Plays Gershwin - like penaut butter and jelly. And very beautiful it is too with swooping string and jazzy odd interludes and a little bit of progressive something all along the way. Masterful and terribly modern in an old fashioned kind of way. Nelson and Georgey-boy can be found here.
Thanks to all who came to Spiritland on Sunday - visitors included a pop star, a YBA and someone all the way from Ramsgate! The next Half Forgotten Library session is the last Sunday of April. With special guest DJ Format. Hell yeah. And I nearly forgot - as a reult of putting together my bag of library LPs for the Spiritland library session, I pulled out an old library fave, which, as soon as I needle dropped it, was the music from the Postman film music from a few weeks ago that I knew but couldn't place. Turns out it was Sam Sklair. I bloody love library music.
A new Trunk LP has arrived today, but more of that next week when I talk about the new Trunk book too. One of two new books actually.
In the meantime I shall leave you with this superb Billy Jones based footage (no, I'd not heard of him either) which includes a visit to a jukebox shop, the 2is and hanging with a future pioneer of odd electronics. Awesome. Alternatively you can have a look at this Batman / Nelson Riddle intro thing.
I'm now off to a small church where they shot the TV comedy Rev as my youngest is doing some group performance lark with three other schools to possibly celebrate Easter and possibly celebrate the end of term. As a result of it being the end of term today next week's mailout may well be a struggle or late.
Thanks for listening.
