Hello, I hope all is groovy. It's pretty groovy here although we now have another issue with the shower - the "flow issue" has been fixed but I have just worked out that the whole shower screen unit has been installed upside down. This possibly explains the on-going unbearable SCREEEEEEECCCCHHHHHHH noise when you open and close it.
Anyway, I noted recently that a slightly better sounding bird song recording issued by the RSPB had reached the top ten in the iTunes singles chart (with "Let Nature SIng"). It's now just outside the top 50 but never-the-less this is some achievement in the modern musical world. So today we have a Trunk birdsong release, a killer four tracker which includes introductions to bird calls we know and alarm calls we don't. Brilliant it is too, a right sonic treat. Songs Of Birds In Britain can be found here.
Also this week I have been listening to lots of music, more than usual. This is because I bought some killer ska and dub at the Spitz Record fayre last week (from Dave The Milkman) and one LP led to another and I started digging out lots more ska and dub from the Trunk shelves. Here is a film I also enjoyed watching, made in 1964 just as SKA was breaking out all over.
In other news my good chum Martin Green is having a big bash tonight. It was supposed to be a joint party with me, but I'm going camping for a 50th Birthday party and I can't go. But If you are free tonight, go to Martin's bash, it will be very funny, there will be a smattering of slebs and very groovy music all night. Bethnal Green WMC from 8pm and it's FREE. Also another chum, Fred Deakin (half of Lemon Jelly) has spent the last three years working on his super sci-fi concept album - it's a little like a modern Galactic Nightmare but with more instruments. He is crowdfunding the LP and is very, very nearly there - just £400 short of his £10K target. Have a look here.
I'm now off to pack my small bag for camping. Actually I've been told it's officially glamping. In two storey tents. With hot tubs. So I am packing nothing apart from a slightly camp attitude.
Thanks for listening.
Jonny
