Hello, I hope all is groovy. It should be groovy here but to be honest I am slightly twitchy. And a bit nervous. And excited.

This is because, as mentioned in the last mailout, today (well last night actually) I launched my first ever Kickstarter campaign. This is to make a brand new book about an incredible hoard of packaging I came across a couple of years ago. The complete story is on the Kickstarter page, but in short, a very interesting man collected masses of stuff - in amongst all the masses of stuff were things I really like; sweet packets, lolly wrappers, old drinks cans, you get the idea. But lots I'd never seen before. And the best way to show all this incredible - and I have to say - incredibly rare material is to put it in a book.

Wrappers Delight is the name, and it will feature hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of rare wax gum papers, sweet cigarette boxes, old fizzy drink cans, football cards, stickers, badges, TV tie-ins, labels, all sorts - too much to name here. It will be a nostalgic and graphic whoop-up if you're into 1960s, 1970s and 1980s things. The book will look amazing too as I'm making it with Fuel Publishing (who I did the Music Library and The Sainsbury's Own label book with) and you can pledge for it now on the Kickstarter page.

The pledges include a superb tee shirt, lovely prints, a mega rare fishfinger notepad (trust me, it's super cool) and there's even a very limited (250 copies only!!!) Kenny Graham bubblegum pink 7" EP of the unreleased advertising music and jingles he made for companies like Fry's and Cadbury's. This will only be available via the Kickstarter pledges.

And Jarvis is writing the foreword!

So, have a look at the Wrappers Delight page and please please please back this project. It's already been highlighted as "a project we love" by Kickstarter, and it's worth going to the page just to see the video we made. Which is today's video link.

And if you want to download the video and share it to help the cause, you can do so here. Or link to it via Vimeo here.

If you can join in and pledge or help in any way this would be really thrilling. I've been working hard for two years on getting this labour of love ready for publication and dreaming about actually making it all happen. I know it will be a fabulous, interesting and hugely influential artifact in many ways. And let's face it, it's worth buying it just for the title alone.

I'll shut up about it now. And for once, I'm not off to Spitlafields Record Fayre. Because I've run out of money. So I'm off to see my mother to beg her for some kind of pledge for the book. Let's hope it's more than the £20 she gave me for Xmas.

Thanks for listening as always

Jonny
