Morning, I hope all is well. All fun here. I'm writing this at about 10:45pm Thursday. I have just been asked for a fiver from the teen, who is now heading off to watch "Love Island" with a mate who has cats, and on his way back will spend the fiver on a box of cereal, which he will totaly consume by about 1am. And leave the empty box, dirty bowl and milk out for someone else to clear up in the morning.

Today (Thursday) I went to Margate. I met some people I knew, had some very good coffee, and went to a record shop. In the record shop was a collection of jazz - actually the whole reason I went there was to see the jazz. This was no normal collection of jazz, it was all mid 1950s to early 1960s modern British jazz, all totally immaculate (and they are never immaculate). Many I had never seen before.

Seems like the collection belonged to a groovy guy who had bought them at the time, loved them always, and when he died (recently) the daughter had called three shops to ask if they wanted these "old big band records" and they all said "no". The fourth shop said "yes" and landed possibly one of the rarest collections of modern British jazz from that period ever seen. I bought several of the LPs because I just couldn't help myself, including the illusive and totally beautiful 1957 LPs that all have Jackie Collins (yes, her of The Bitch / The Stud fame) on the covers. These ones. Only ever seen one of them in 20 years. Worth the trip to the coast for sure.

It has also been a fine week for TV consumption. Having been informed about A Bunch Of Amateurs by several brilliant people on this mailing list last year, it has finally made it to the BBC iPlayer. It's about the Bradford amateur Film Club, it is life affirming and hilarous in so many ways. Here is the trailer. WATCH THE FILM!!!!

I'm finishing this message in the morning. I had a late night listeing to jazz. But it's now Friday morning and I am about to clear up the cereal mess.

Thanks for listening as always

Jonny
