Morning, I hope all is well. All groovy here.
Last night I had an interesting time at the Mildmay On The Corner jazz event, as the venue is very much geographically "on the corner" at Newington Green. I had a small table selling a small box of jazz allsorts at the back. Sold some records, had some chats, sowed some seeds.
When I got on the wrong bus home (possibly/ probably due to beer) the bus driver - a very cool scouser - stopped me and asked what was in the record box I was carrying. "Jazz" I said. He then spent the next two minutes asking me more questions about the jazz in the box - "British? What period? Tubby?" etc etc. He then opened his driver door, got up and showed me his saxophone! I turned to the fairly packed late night bus and apologised for the muscial enthusiasm up the front but they seemed entertained by the unexpected jazz turning the bus had made.
In other news I have decided the all new Trunk LP will be for sale from mid next week. It will only be available via Trunk. There are only about 468 of them. And that's it. Some more details after the weekend.
Here is a short film 80s film about the Mod rally in the Isle Of Wight, that is now an annual happening. I have been quietly obsessing about this event since I saw the posters to the 2024 one on my recent visit to Freshwater. They also mention Flip where I used to shop back in the 1980s.
I'm now off to swim in the warm soup that is the 23° reservoir and then I have to get changed to go to a 50th Birthday that starts at midday. I have bought no gift, I'm hoping a second hand LP might make the cut. But thinking about it she might not even have a record player.
Thanks for listening as always
Jonny
