Morning, I hope all is well. All good here. very busy. Dog now has no fleas.
First up, news of the all new Trunk LP. It's by Vincent Geminiani, called Musique Pour Un Voyage Extraordinaire. And yes, it is extraordinaire! Possibly the best French library LP of all time, made by a really impressive artist who built his own percussive instrument called a Bronté. The album is truly conhesive and touches many bases; jazz, worless vocals, amazing percussion, a whiff of pychedelics and more. Sounds like Stereolab and Air but from 1972. Originals are mythically rare and this is the first repress to have the correct Robert J. Hilton collage sleeve. I have 500. It will not be repressed. It can be bought right here. Jump on board!
In other news I have been booked to play in the Strand 180 Hi-Fi listening room. They want me to do a Halloween session (on Oct 31st) a library one, an Italian soundtrack one and an electronic one. And possibly a Christmas LP one too. The tickets to the first Halloween one will be for sale next week right here. It will be interesting to hear fine old LPs on this system.
Getting closer now to the Trunk Groovy Fayre and it looks like Audio Gold will be using the top hall as a playing / listening / drinking room as the bar is in there and they have set up a great vinyl system with four superb 1960s Tannoy Speakers that look like something from my granny's house. Sounds fab. The Groovy Fayre is November 2nd all day and all night. With quiz and celeb DJ too.
Here is the whole film of The Shout, the one with John Hurt fiddling about with electronics.
I'm now off to clean the car. I am driving to the Isle of Wight later with several passengers including two whippets, a TV director, an ice cream maker and a ginger cake I made last night. And currently there is no room for any of them.
Thanks for listening as always. Au revoir
Jonny
