Hello, I hope all is groovy. It's pretty groovy here.

Yesterday my kids broke up from school - this weirdly emotional as one child has now left primary school and is off to BIG SCHOOL. We have one more day here in the UK then we are all off to France for a holiday. With my mother-in-law.

As I am going to France I thought a French 50pFriday would be in order. And it's a true marvel, a stone cold / super cool classic of its time - Afternoon In Paris by John Lewis and Sacha Distel. Yes, Sacha Distel, sexy hearthrob man of late 70s evening TV, but this is back when he was an award winning guitar player. It's a sublime LP - and can be found here. Please note the rare English sleeve.

In preparation for this holiday I have been exploring French things on-line and managed to finally watch La Piscine. If you have not seen it, here it is in Hi Def with subtitles if you turn them on. Some great outfits, killer interiors, superb poolside furniture, beautiful people, Jane B's strange accent, great music, a Maserati and no mother-in-law. I suggest you waste two hours when you can.

Yesterday I picked up a short run of new Trunk Summer Tee Shirts - they have the design from very rare late 1960s British Planet Of The Apes bubblegum wrapper screenprinted on them in two colours. They are "well cool". They look awesome in fact. And they are very very limited indeed. I made about 20 (I'm keeping one for me). And they are only available here.

Finally, if you are a space-age fan like me, you may well enjoy the results of the recent auction at Sothebys in NYC. There were 173 lots that included a variety of amazing items from Buzz Aldrin's archive, some sublime original photos (eg lot 92), amazing models, weird spacecraft things and even the rock collecting bag used by Neil Armstrong on the lunar surface that sold for $1.8m (lot 102) - it was sold in error by the US Government in 2003 for less than $1000 to a woman in Illinois. Here it is.

I am now off to finish the large list of pre-holiday chores I have, which include feeding rats, washing pants, fixing kid's swimming goggles and packing Boggle. There may not be any emails for two weeks as I am supposed to be away.

Thanks for listening

Jonny
