Hello, I hope all is groovy. It's pretty groovy here. And my kids are back at school. So they are now only having a go at me after school now.
Today for the 50p Friday offering I have a super rare British steel band record, possibly the first one ever - and I am for being told otherwise. Anyway, this was made by the Trinidad All Stars Steel Band here in the UK just after the Festival of Britiain, where they played. It's a very rare recording indeed, no sign of it in any of the usual places both online and off. Also included in the recording is a version of "Rum And Coca-Cola", which I am always a sucker for. It might also give you the slight impression you are on holiday again. The Trinidad All Stars Steel Band can be found here.
The Trunk website has very recently been updated, have a look but please don't ask about The Conversation soundtrack - it's not out yet. An email to buy the Harry Caul see-through mac vinyl version will follow in due course.
The KPM gig mentioned last week has sold out! The KPM Jazz Convention LP has very nearly sold out. And there are some Britxotica! Goes Wild left but not that many. These will not be repressed.
Finally this week I was sent a couple of things to watch - the first is the Two Ronnies doing British jazz. The second shows the classic KPM cue that was used several times in Deep Throat ("Calefaction"), being used for the Red Devils promo film. Excuse the poor quality. And RIP Burt Reynolds - I distinctly remember seeing this at the cinema at the end of The Cannonball Run.
I'm now off to the Spits Record Fayre. I really can't wait to see what utter rubbish I bring home this time.
Thanks for listening.
Jonny
