Yes, these are the only remaining recordings of Alessandro Moreschi, known now as the last castrato. You can work out why he has the high voice, the whole practice of developing these singers and castrating them before puberty was outlawed by the last 19th Century. So actually hearing this type of singer is most unusual theses days, and I have to say the sound is totally unique and tragic.
