Originally a TV special, recorded in Rome with a band consisting of every superb Italian jazz man and film music composer, directed by Umiliani, and performed by Merrill, this really is a dramatic peak in steamy vocal jazz. Seriously, this is totally mind blowing - and there are these weird little intros to each song which I find improve things in an unexpected fashion. Musically this is faultless. No wonder an original is the price of a small Italian car.
