Description

Mel Tormé with Wally Stott and His Orchestra - Tormé Meets The British

I bloody love Mel, the man with the velvet voice. This is possibly his rarest LP, and the only one he made and recorded in the UK. I say this without looking on-line to check, all I know is that I've seen just two copies in 25 years and have looked hard for it. I found this recently and went slightly mad in many ways, mainly because I'd never heard it before and was desperate to hear what Mel singing British classic such as "I've Got A Lovey Bunch Of Coconuts" actually sounded like. Well the LP did not disappoint, in terms of comedy oddness and sublime vocal performance. Bloody brilliant.
